River restoration

We work directly with landholders to deliver on-ground river restoration projects that restore Australia’s wetlands and waterways. Our restoration activities include stabilising riverbanks, stock exclusion, erosion control, managing invasive species, revegetation, and riparian protection. Our team also run a range of practical workshops, providing valuable information to property owners and communities on how to manage and restore their land. We also develop resources to support sustainable farm management, working together to maximise our impact across whole river valleys and catchments.

Our aim across all river restoration projects is to use best-practice strategies to achieve multiple benefits for both the environment and on-farm productivity.

We offer:

  • On-ground river restoration programs
  • Workshops & events
  • Landholder engagement
  • Project planning & implementation

Our Collaborators

“Successful programs are underpinned by shared vision and collaborative relationships. The ARRC team help to build both using people-centred approaches to mentoring, leadership and science communication. Using genuine engagement and partnership approaches to build connections based on empathy, the ARRC are making a difference in river health management and leadership."
Sarina Loo (VEWH)
"The mentoring program exceeded my expectations. I have been involved in other mentoring programs before and none of them quite stuck for me. Through this program, I have not only developed a good network of current and future emerging leaders, I also feel more confident and a sense of validation about my work interests."
Prachi Samir, DEECA
"Such an invaluable opportunity for great training and investment in our people from an inspiring team! The space that you created for people to feel safe enough to show who they are and have confidence to grow cannot be under-estimated. Thank you for your energy, enthusiasm, and considerable skills!”
Dr Janet Pritchard (Senior Director, MDBA)
"Thanks so much to Siwan, Andy and the ARRC team for all the work they did to make this [mentoring] program happen. It has changed how I approach my work.......for the better!"
- Rose Jackson, Corangamite CMA
“Not enough superlatives to express how pleased we are with the outcome.”
Jennie Fluinn, Director, Environmental Water Science & Monitoring, Commonwealth Environmental Water Holder
“Thank you for creating such a fantastic resource that is easy to understand and shows practical solutions. I have no doubt it will be a useful tool for our teams to drive landholders to for greater understanding.”
Kurt Laboyrie, Soil Conservation Service
“I most enjoyed the in-person sessions that Siwan facilitated. They were always challenging and energising and I learnt a lot. They forced me to reflect on my own style at work and think more objectively about my own state of mind and what I bring to work.”
Helen Roberts-Ferguson (Yarra Valley Water)
“Thank you very much for giving this jaded landcarer a reminder of what is being achieved and the wonderful people out there who are also working to rejuvenate our land.”
