REFORM seeks to support the design of programs of restoration and mitigation measures for the European Union Water Framework Directive which requires countries to attain target ecological status for rivers. Success is defined as being hydromorphologically sustainable, ecologically effective, and exploiting the full potential within the socio-economic setting.

Mid-term reports have recently been released covering a range of topics including hydromorphological variables and ecologically relevant processes, ecosystem services and stakeholder surveys.
