The Marsilea drummondii, or Nardoo, is an aquatic fern with beautiful leaves with a rusty red in the centre that fades to a brilliant green around the edges. The Nardoo can look dead when dried up, but is very resilient and can bounce back after winter rains arrive. It often appears prolifically after floods. Aboriginal Australians traditionally ground the dry capsules of the plant to produce flour for baking.
