This National Water Commission funded  research captures the current status of the scientific knowledge (data and analysis) for supporting effective policy decisions related to the protection and management of groundwater dependent ecosystems.   Water plans across Australia are in their infancy in terms of explicitly allowing for the water needs of groundwater dependent ecosystems.  This report uses seven case studies to assist jurisdictions in thinking about how best to integrate groundwater and surface water needs within the water planning context. .

Water planners and policy makers, water managers, ecosystem and catchment managers, environmental regulators, and water authorities will all be interested in what this report has to say, it can be downloaded here.
