In 2005, the United Nations launched the Water for Life Decade to help raise awareness about the need to care for our water resources.
Mark Angelo, a Canadian river enthusiast led an initiative to establish a World Rivers Day on the fourth Sunday each September.
This event has grown and since 2012 there have been world wide river celebrations.
In Australia I encourage you to take a look at the International River Foundation’s website and maybe take some time on World Rivers Day to visit your ‘special river’.
